Moscow airports not against Pokemon Go playing passengers

Passengers can use any mobile applications but players will not have the right of accessing any back-of-house areas in any case

MOSCOW, July 18. /TASS/. Administrations of Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo Airports are not against passengers playing Pokemon Go online game, press services of Moscow airports told TASS on Monday.

"Sheremetyevo Airport has all the requisite modern technical infrastructure enabling users of services to spend time before and after the flight with comfort and usefully. Free unlimited Wi-Fi is accessible in Sheremetyevo, making it possible for passengers and guests to meet their demands for Internet, messengers and social media without restrictions. Good completion of a journey is the priority of staying in Sheremetyevo Airport, while games are intended to spend leisure time," the press service said.

At the same time, passengers should not forget about safety when playing Pokemon Go, the airport said. "Any airport is a transportation facility and higher attention zone. Therefore we recommend monitoring the flight status, baggage and carry-ons safety and comply with air safety rules to passengers," Sheremetyevo Airport said.

The airport cannot prohibit entertainment applications, press service of Domodedovo Airport said. "We definitely have no right to limit use of mobile entertainment applications by passengers and guests in the air terminal," the Airport said. "At the same time, we should remind that the airport is the transport infrastructural facility in the first instance, and stay in its territory binds to adhere to transport safety rules," the press service said.

"Our passengers can freely play in mobile games, including Pokemon Go, certainly if players do not violate law and rules of conduct and do not create hindrances to airport employees and other passengers," the press service said. "Passenger traffic in the airport is in any case limited to public areas and access rules will not change for zones with additional restrictions and the ones fully closed for passengers. A player will not be able to penetrate an area closed for passengers regardless of a Pokemon there," the Airport added.

Pok·mon Go is an extensive multiplayer free-to-play online game with elements of augmented reality, developed by Niantic for IOS and Android devices. The game was released in July 2016. The game allows players to capture, train and fight with virtual Pokemon characters, which could be found in real world locations. The game is expected to be formally released in Russia in coming days.
