MAKHACHKALA, July 14. /TASS/. Two gunmen were killed in a counterterrorism operation in the village of Kharachi in Dagestan in early hours of Thursday, a source with law enforcement agencies of the Northern Caucasus Federal District told TASS.

"Gunmen were sighted in the village. An exchange of fire followed and then at two in the morning the regime of a counterterrorism operation was declared. Two gunmen were shot dead in the operation. They are being identified," he said.

Earlier reports said that a counterterrorism operation was launched in the early hours of Thursday in Kharachi, Dagestan.
