Bird ingestion may be to blame for plane’s emergency landing in Moscow

There were 50 passengers and three crew on board the plane

YEKATERINBURG, June 27. /TASS/. Bird ingestion may have caused the emergency landing of a Yamal Airlines flight at Moscow’s Domodedovo airport Monday afternoon, as follows from the air carrier’s official statement. The plane left Domodedovo at 12:35 Moscow time.

"The captain of Flight LLM-623 crew (Domodedovo-Murmansk) said a bird was sucked into the starboard engine’s air duct shortly after takeoff. The engine’s failure followed," the air carrier said.

The pilot made a decision to return to the airport of departure.

"After burning the fuel the plane made a safe landing at Domodedovo. There were 50 passengers and three crew on board. A reserve flight will take the passengers to Murmansk," Yamal Airlines said.
