MOSCOW, June 15 /TASS/. Police in Sergiyev Posad, a town in the Moscow region, have discovered an arms depot and a self-made bomb in a local caf·.

The depot’s owners have been detained, Irina Volk, the Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman, said.

"The Russian Interior Ministry employees and the Russian Federal Security Service have found an arms depot and an object, which has all the characteristics of a self-made bomb, in a caf· in Sergiyev Posad near Moscow in a series of planned measures to fight illegal trade in arms. The arsenal’s owners have been established and detained," she said adding that operations designed to thwart illegal trade in arms were proceeding as previously planned.

Media reports that a terror attack had been prevented in the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra appeared earlier on Wednesday. Sergei Balchuk, the press secretary of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra, located in Sergiyev Posad, denied reports, which appeared earlier on Wednesday, that a terror attack had been prevented in the Lavra.

Neither the police nor the Lavra commandant’s office knows anything about a terrorist act, Balchuk told TASS.
