Opera star Hvorostovsky to debut at Bolshoi

According to the theater’s music director and chief conductor, Dmitri Hvorostovsky will appear on the Bolshoi Theater’s stage for the first time in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Don Carlos

MOSCOW, May 5. /TASS/. Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky will make his debut at Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater next season, the theater’s music director and chief conductor Tugan Sokhiev said on Thursday.

Sokhiev said Hvorostovsky "will appear on the Bolshoi Theater’s stage for the first time" in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Don Carlos.

He also said Russian opera diva Anna Netrebko will sing at the Bolshoi in Giacomo Puccini’s opera Manon Lescaut on October 16.

"We are looking forward to her performance," Sokhiev said.

The upcoming 241st season of the Bolshoi theatre will include tours of France and Switzerland and performance at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in Finland.
