MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. More than 12,000 people have suffered from spring flooding in Russia, Emergencies Minister Vladimir Puchkov said on Tuesday.

"Currently more than 4,600 houses are flooded in 18 Russian regions," Puchkov said at a videoconference with Russian president Vladimir Putin. "We are protecting residential areas, monitor the flooding situation and establish temporary shelters."

"The spring flood continues," he said, adding that Siberia and Far East will be affected most.

Puchkov said the flooding subsides in the Urals and Volga regions.
