TOMSK, March 13. /TASS/. More than 250 people in Siberia’s Toms simultaneously douched themselves with ice water on the eve of the Lent, the event’s organizer Alexander Germanov told TASS on Sunday.
"The event featured 254 people, where the youngest was two years old and the oldest - 76," he said. "Even as the douche was over, I was receiving calls from those who missed the fun."
The ice douche took place at the local university’s sports field. The air temperature was +3C. The temperature of water in the bins the participants emptied onto themselves was close to zero. Before the ice cold douche, the participants made several heating exercises.
The organizer told TASS, in autumn a similar douching event featured 215 people, and before that in New York 200 people took ice showers.
"This procedure is good for health, though there are sceptics," he said. "To our ice-hole (made for winter-swimmers) every day about 150 people come. We want our nation to be healthy and strong.".
