Counterterrorism operation ends in Dagestan’s district

Two gunmen were killed in an exchange of fire with law enforcers in the Hunzakh district

MAKHACHKALA, March 12. /TASS/. The counterterrorism operation in the Hunzakh district of the Russian Northern Caucasian republic of Dagestan where on Friday two militants were killed has been lifted, an official of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee’s regional department told TASS on Saturday.

"At 8.30 p.m. (5.30 p.m. UTC) on Saturday the regime of the counterterrorism operation in Dagestan’s Hunzakh district was lifted as the operation had ended," he said.

A counterterrorism operation came into effect in the republic’s Hunzakh and Botlikh districts at 4.00 a.m. Moscow time (1.00 a.m. UTC) on Friday. Two gunmen were killed in an exchange of fire with law enforcers in the Hunzakh district.
