Singer Sergey Lazarev to represent Russia at Eurovision-2016 song contest

MOSCOW, March 5 /TASS/. Singer Sergey Lazarev will represent Russia at the Eurovision-2016 song contest with a song "You are the only one". The song and a clip were presented in the "Vesti v Subbotu" (News on Saturday) program on the Rossiya TV channel for the first time on Saturday.

Lazarev said that the song had influenced his final decision on Eurovision-2016. "Honestly, I am in love with this song with all my heart. I agreed to participate in this year’s contest because of this song. It has a kind of magnetism and a very powerful force, which seizes you straight form start and does not let you go to the very end. It is a good sign because you have got just 3 minutes to present the song to the audiences!" the singer said.

An international team of authors, including Russian singer Filip Kirkorov (represented Russia at the 1995 Eurovision song contest) and Greek composer Dimitris Kontopoulos, had worked on the song.

Lazarev added that a special show, which will be different from the video clip, would be staged for his performance. Vladislava Yevtushenko, the vice-miss of the Miss Russia -2015, song contest has performed the main female role in the video clip for "You are the only one." The clip’s director Konstantin Cherepkov has made video clips for other songs by Sergey Lazarev such as "It’s all she"; "Right in the Heart"; "Unreal Love" in cooperation with the St. Petersburg team Illuminarium 3000, which creates 3D installations.

The Eurovision-2016 semi-finals will take place on May 10 and 12 at the Globe Arena in Stockholm. The final will be held on May 14. Sweden will host the Eurovision contest for the second time after M·ns Zelmerl·w won the contest in 2015.

Lazarev will perform in the first semi-final. Polina Gagarina who represented Russia at Eurovision last year was second. Forty-three countries will take part in the contest this year.
