MOSCOW, February 16. /TASS/. Five apartments have been completely destroyed in the residential building in Yaroslavl where a household gas explosion occurred, Yaroslavl region governor Sergey Yastrebov told the Rossiya 24 TV channel on Tuesday.
An emergency response center led by the region’s head has been set up in Yaroslavl. All tenants of the house have been evacuated to a temporary housing center, all necessary assistance is rendered to them, Yastrebov said.
According to the latest data, one person died, four others were taken to hospital.
The explosion was caused by a gas leak in one of the apartments, a source in the regional law enforcement bodies said. "According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred in an apartment on the 4th floor due to a gas leak or malfunction of gas equipment," the source said.
