HAVANA, February 14. /TASS/. Cuba’s President of the Council of State Raul Castro attended a service conducted by visiting Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in a Havana Orthodox church, a TASS correspondent reported on Sunday.

The Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was built in Havana at the initiative of Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro and was consecrated in 2008 by Kirill who was then a metropolitan and head of the Orthodox Church’s foreign relations department.

Havana’s Russian-speaking community numbers 15,000.
