Flu epidemic in Russia passes peak — medics

According to the Health Ministry, 126 people died of flu in Russia since the epidemic’s outbreak

ST. PETERSBURG, February 10. /TASS/. The flu epidemic spreading in Russia since December has passed its peak, the Research Institute of Influenza said on Wednesday.

"This week the epidemic has passed its peak," the institute said. "The flu morbidity has decreased by 8.7% among all age groups as compared with the last week."

According to the Health Ministry, 126 people died of flu in Russia since the epidemic’s outbreak.

Health ministry data shows swine flu, officially known as influenza virus A/H1N1, responsible for the pandemic in 2009-2010, which claimed 645 lives in Russia, is registered in a number of cases.
