Criminal proceedings have been initiated into the children’s death

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, January 28 /TASS/. Police in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a city in Russia’s Far East, on Thursday found the bodies of three 8-year-old boys in a hot sewer of a school where the three kids had studied, a local police source told TASS.

"The three boys disappeared on Thursday afternoon. They had left the school but had not come home. Police, volunteers and Emergencies Ministry employees started searching for them. The boys’ bodies were found in the open hatch of a hot sewer located near the school building," the source said adding police were trying to establish what had caused the tragedy.

The press service of the Russian Investigation Committee told TASS that criminal proceedings had been initiated into the children’s death.

"During the inquiry, the investigators will try to give a legal assessment to the actions [or inaction] of persons responsible for the maintenance and operation of the hot sewer at the section in which the schoolboys had died," the Russian Investigation Committee said.
