Two injured as gas cylinder explodes in apartment block in Sochi - Emergencies Ministry

He said the apartment block has 43 apartments accommodating 129 people

ROSTOV-ON-DON/SOCHI, January 23. /TASS/. A gas cylinder exploded Friday evening in an apartment block in the southern Russian resort of Sochi, two people were injured, a spokesman for the Southern Regional Center of Russia’s Emergencies Ministry told a TASS correspondent.

"A gas cylinder exploded. There was no burning. Partitions, windows and doors were damaged in the building. Two people were injured, they have thermal burns, they have been hospitalized," the spokesman said.

He said the apartment block has 43 apartments accommodating 129 people.

A total of 54 people and 15 units of equipment are being used to deal with the blast’s consequences.
