LONDON, January 15. /TASS/. The concert of famous Russian violinist Vadim Repin will open the Year of Language and Literature of Russia and the UK, Russia’s embassy in London has said.
The unique performance will take place on February 25 at London’s Royal Festival Hall and will be attended by the members of the British royal family, the diplomatic mission said.
The Year of Language and Literature of Russia and the UK will continue the cooperation of the two countries during the Year of Culture held in 2014. Many events of the program will be linked to works of famous English playwright William Shakespeare.
Since February, cinemas in 50 towns of Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent State (CIS) countries will show performances of the British Royal National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and Barbican Theatre.
A special program will be also organized at the traditional New British Film Festival in 30 towns across Russia to show screen versions of the playwright’s works.
