MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. The alcohol consumption in Russia was declining in the outgoing year, head of the federal psychiatry and addiction research center of the healthcare ministry Tatyana Klimenko said in an interview with the Izvestia daily.
The consumption dropped to 11.5 liters per capita from 13.5 year-on-year, she said.
"We have registered the lowering from the time selling of alcohol was banned at night," she continued. "It is a very positive moment, which proves effect of the restriction. We can see the result: drunken people are only rarely seen in our streets."
The lowering tendency has a big chance to remain in the coming year, if the media promote healthy living, the official said.
