Three victims of household gas explosion in Volgograd in grave condition — health ministry

11 people hurt in the household gas explosion remain in the city’s hospitals

MOSCOW, December 21. /TASS/. Doctors assess the condition of three victims of the gas explosion in Russia’s southern city of Volgograd as grave, at present a total of 11 people who sustained injuries of varying severity are hospitalized, Director of the Department of Public Health and Communications of Russia’s Health Ministry Oleg Salagay said on Monday.

"To date, 11 people hurt in the household gas explosion remain in Volgograd’s hospitals. The condition of three victims is estimated to be grave, of two - moderate and of six - satisfactory," Salagay said.

According to him, all necessary medical care is granted to the victims. Medical institutions are provided with all required medications, medical products, donated blood and its components.

An explosion of household gas occurred on Sunday in an apartment in a 9-storey residential building in Volgograd. The outside wall of the building — from the 2nd to the 9th floors — collapsed, and a fire broke out on an area of about 30 square meters.
