MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. Ex-candidate for parliamentary deputy of the Russian North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, Mukhtar Medzhidov, has been killed in downtown Moscow, a law enforcement source told TASS on Wednesday.
"The identity of the person killed on Solyanka Street has been recognized: it was Mukhtar Medzhidov, born in 1980," the source said, adding that Medzhidov was a former candidate for Dagestani lawmakers.
Earlier, a source told TASS that, preliminarily, a conflict occurred between two men. As a result of shooting, one was killed on the spot and the other escaped inside a black foreign-made car. The killed person had a TT handgun in his hand.
Operatives seized surveillance camera recordings at the scene of the crime. Police are looking for two cars: an Infiniti and a BMW.
A criminal case was opened on the occasion of shooting and death of a man in downtown Moscow under articles 105 (murder), 213 (hooliganism) and 222 (illegal acquisition, transfer, storage, transportation and carrying of firearms), the Russian Investigative Committee told TASS.
"According to preliminary data, today evening an unknown assailant made at least 10 shots from a car at the man when he went out of his car parked on Solyanka Street. The victim died on the spot from inflicted wounds," the committee said.
