ROME, December 7 /TASS/. Russian opera diva Anna Netrebko sang the title part in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera "Jean d’Arc" (Joan of Arc), which opened La Scala’s new season on Monday night.
"It is a very important performance. The opera has returned to La Scala after 150 years. The libretto is not very good because it is full of historical errors but the character is interesting and complicated. It is a young girl who lives with her own dreams," Netrebko said ahead of the first night performance.
Netrebko returned to La Scala for the first time since 2011 when she made a debut in Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni.
