MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Police in Moscow have wound up the activities of a criminal gang making and selling explosive devices, Russia’s Interior Ministry said on Friday.
"The inter-regional group was linked to illegal sales of arms and explosives," spokesperson Elena Alexeyeva said, adding that the operation was carried out jointly with the Federal Security Service.
Officers seized an air bomb, 15 fragmentation shells, around 8 kilograms of TNT, 4 kilograms of gunpowder, several mortar shells and anti-personnel mines, 10,000 rounds of ammunition, 30 hand grenades, 40 electric detonators as well as rifles, knives and machine guns.
Suspects have been detained in a two-stage operation and three criminal cases have been opened. Four more investigations could lie ahead, the official said.
