Goat meant to be tiger’s lunch makes friends with big cat at Far East zoo

Timur the goat and three-year-old tiger Amur have lived in one enclosure for four days already and the goat has even taken over the feline’s bed

VLADIVOSTOK, November 26. /TASS/. A Siberian tiger at a Far East Russian safari park has surprised his keepers by making friends with a goat supposed to be his lunch, the park’s director told TASS.

Timur the goat and three-year-old tiger Amur have lived in one enclosure for four days already and the goat has even taken over the feline’s bed, Dmitry Mezentsev said.

"Tigers at our park get live prey twice a week. Amur likes to hunt goats and rabbits but he did not want to eat this one as he [the goat] is brave," Mezentsev said.

Timur made no attempts to run away from the tiger and now sleeps inside the predator’s bed while Amur has to recline on the shelter’s roof.

"The goat considers Amur his leader and follows him everywhere. Amur does not regard the goat as his prey," he said, adding that the goat and the tiger eat and walk together.

Amur lives in an enclosure the size of a football pitch.
