Russia to boost cooperation with Syria among youths - Russia’s Union of Youth

Cooperation among the young people should be stepped up in culture and humanitarian contacts

MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Russia and Syria are set to boost cooperation in the youth policy field, Chairman of the Russian Union of Youth (RUY) Pavel Krasnorutsky told reporters on Friday.

"Talks with Chairman of Syria’s Union of Revolutionary Youth and Chairman of Syria’s People’s Council youth committee Maan Abboud are on the agenda of the forum that was opened in Samara [a Russian city on the Volga River] today," Krasnorutsky said noting that cooperation among the young people should be stepped up in culture and humanitarian contacts.

In the past week, Krasnorutsky held talks with top officials of Syria’s oldest Damascus University that is motivated to maintain contacts with Russia in the context of students’ self-ruling and interaction among higher educational establishments.

"Certain relations have been forming between Syria and Russia for a long time," he said. "And I think we can be friends not just against the background of military activities but against the background of other tasks - cooperation in culture and humanitarian contacts as in this sphere the Russian Union of Youth has the upper hand and I believe our contribution to the promotion of bilateral relations will not be excessive."

Besides, the RUY head said that the union had inked 56 agreements on cooperation with international organisations which would allow to build long-term and fruitful relationship among Russian and foreign young people.
