Fisherman with dog adrift for 3 days rescued in Russia’s north

The boat was found 30 kilometers away from the shore

ARKHANGELSK, November 10. /TASS/. Rescuers in the northern Russian city of Arkhangelsk found a fisherman and his dog in the White Sea 30 kilometers away from the shore, a local emergencies official said on Tuesday.

"The engine of the 50-year old fisherman’s boat failed on November 7," the official said. "He was trying to repair the engine but the boat was driven to the sea by heavy winds."

The fisherman who had enough food on the boat but no freshwater managed to send a message to his wife last night. The woman contacted the rescuers who sent a helicopter in the morning to rescue the man.

"The boat was found 30 kilometers away from the shore and the fisherman and his dog were taken aboard the helicopter," the official said.
