MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. A delegation of three Russian parliamentarians has brought to Syria some three tons of humanitarian cargo for Syrian children, Communist parliamentarian Alexander Yushchenko told TASS by telephone on Friday.
"The aim of our visit is humanitarian. We have brought some three tons of humanitarian cargo, mainly baby food that will be sent to orphanages as well as to children of killed military," he told TASS from Syria.
The aid would be distributed "through spiritual leaders of Syria," he said.
The delegation also includes Communist Party deputy Sergey Gavrilov and Dmitry Sablin from the Federation Council upper house of parliament.
Russia’s State Duma deputies and Federation Council members will meet with the Syrian leadership during their visit to the country, Yuschenko went on to say.

"Meetings are planned with the country’s leadership, parliament speaker, prime minister to discuss restoring sovereignty, economic and political potential of the country," Yuschenko said.
The officials will also discuss prospects of developing inter-parliamentarian ties, he added.
"We will hold a meeting with Syria’s Chief Mufti," Yuschenko noted. The Russian delegation’s visit to Syria will continue for several days, and the program will be rather busy, he said.
