Russian rescuers join efforts to extinguish wildfires in Indonesia

On October 22 alone Russian seaplanes dispensed water 51 times, press attache of the Russian Embassy in Indonesia says

BANGKOK, October 23. /TASS/. A team of Russian rescuers which has two Beriev Be-200CHS amphibious aircraft has joined an operation to extinguish wildfires in Indonesia, Russia’s Embassy in Bangkok told TASS.

"Russian seaplanes are actively involved in extinguishing the fires. On October 22 alone they dispensed water 51 times," press attache of the Russian Embassy in Indonesia Nikolay Karapetyan said. The Russian rescuers are expected to take part in the operation in Indonesia in the course of a month.

Be-200CHS amphibious aircraft designed for firefighting, search and rescue, maritime patrol, cargo and passenger transportation have a capacity of 12,5 tons of water. The crews are prepared for work in difficult conditions and have vast firefighting experience.

Russian aircraft were earlier used in Serbia, Greece, Montenegro and other countries.
