MOSCOW, October 7./TASS/. French actors Gerard Depardieu and Fanny Ardant will for the first time present in Moscow on Wednesday "The Second Music," a love drama written by French author Marguerite Duras.
The one and only performance will be staged at Moscow’s Variety Theater. Ardant, who produced the show, is looking forward to meeting with Russian viewers. "I very often have a feeling when in Moscow like as if you see a house with the light coming from the windows, and you want to get in," she was quoted by organizers as saying. "I fell in love with Russia, loving the people who live in it, its painters, cinema, theatre and poetry," she added.
"The famous duo will play ordinary spouses going through a crisis in relations," the organizers said. "This is a play about a man and a woman, speaking about their past and present, the passion of their first dates and dullness of the past few years. It is their attempt, maybe the last one, to speak out and be heard at last," they added.
Fanny Ardant was performing in Russia several times with self-produced "The Ship. The Night" — one-woman show based on Marguerite Duras play. During her previous visit to Russia, the actress told TASS that she dreamed about making a play based on poetry of famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin that she would read with symphonic music accompanying the words.
Ardant and Depardieu met 25 years ago on Francois Truffaut filming of ‘The woman next door," playing the roles of former loves. The film propelled Ardan to stardom of French cinematography, and leading producers started inviting her. She played in more than 70 films. Her and Depardieu’s ways parted then, but after several decades the actors reunited for the love drama "The Second Music".
