At least 10 people injured in explosion at smelting plant in Russia’s Urals

YEKATERINBURG, October 1. /TASS/. At least 10 people have been injured in an explosion that struck a workshop at the Karabashmed plant in the Chelyabinsk Region, a source in local emergencies services told TASS on Thursday.

"At least 10 people received injuries of varying severity, several people are in a serious condition. The information is being verified," the source said.

A source in local emergencies services told TASS earlier that an explosion hit one of the workshops at the copper smelting plant in the Chelyabinsk Region. The press services of the local departments of Interior Ministry and Emergencies Ministry confirmed the information is being verified.

Karabashmed is one of the oldest copper smelting plants in the Chelyabinsk Region. The plant mostly produces blister copper.
