Russian roofer jailed for painting star on skyscraper Ukrainian flag colors

Four other defendants, Alexander Pogrebov, Anna Lepeshkina, Yevgeny Korotkov and Alexey Shirokozhukov, were found not guilty and released from custody

MOSCOW, September 10. /TASS/. A Moscow court on Thursday sentenced roofer Vladimir Podrezov to two years and three months in prison for painting colours on the star atop a Stalin-era Moscow skyscraper. He was convicted of hooliganism and vandalism.

Four other defendants, Alexander Pogrebov, Anna Lepeshkina, Yevgeny Korotkov and Alexey Shirokozhukov, were found not guilty and released from custody. Those charged claimed they had been parachuting off the skyscraper and did not paint the star.

The star on the skyscraper at Kotelnicheskaya embankment in central Moscow was painted blue and yellow, colors of the Ukrainian flag, in August last year.
