Thai police detain Russian national on Interpol's wanted list

It is reported that Nikolay Shtanko is suspected of being part of a criminal syndicate between October 2018 and July 2020 that dealt in illegal transfers of money

BANGKOK, November 27. /TASS/. Thai police have detained a Russian citizen who was on Interpol's wanted list, the Russian Embassy in Thailand told TASS.

"Russian citizen Nikolay Shtanko was detained while crossing the land border between Thailand and Malaysia in connection with violating the kingdom's immigration law. The detained Russian citizen was provided with consular access. Our staff members have visited him," the embassy’s consular section said.

According to the Bangkok Post newspaper, Shtanko is suspected of being part of a criminal syndicate between October 2018 and July 2020 that dealt in illegal transfers of money and money laundering in Russia.
