Russia’s media watchdog slaps ban on Google advertising and its information resources

The listed measures will remain in effect until the violations of Russian law are completely eliminated, Roskomnadzor specified

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. Russia’s media watchdog introduced a ban on the distribution of advertising by Google and its information resources. In addition, search engines will inform Internet users about the company's violation of Russian law, the press service of the watchdog reported.

According to the statement, the watchdog decided to introduce measures for numerous violations of Russian law by American IT company Google LLC. "In particular, the following measures will be applied to Google and its information resources: search engines informing Internet users about a violation of Russian law by a foreign entity; a ban on distribution of advertising by Google LLC and its information resources," the statement said.

The listed measures against Google will remain in effect until the violations of Russian law are completely eliminated, the service said.

The watchdog noted that YouTube has become one of the key platforms for spreading fakes about the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine.
