MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin forecasts that the coronavirus pandemic can drag on for a while which means that new measures to combat the spread of the virus are necessary.
"The epidemic will drag out, its uncontrollable clusters will remain, it does not have borders," Putin said Wednesday at the Davos Agenda Week via videoconference.
He underlined, "borders do not exist for infections and pandemics, therefore, we should learn from the current situation and propose measures aimed at boosting efficiency of systems that monitor emergence of such diseases in the world."
According to the latest statistics, more than 100.3 million people have been infected worldwide and more than 2,100,000 deaths have been reported. To date, 3,774,672 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 3,202,483 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia’s latest data indicates 71,076 fatalities nationwide.
