Court fines employee of Navalny's Anti-Corruption Foundation Sobol for defying rally rules

According to previous reports, police officers apprehended former Moscow City Duma candidate Lyubov Sobol over calls to participate in an unauthorized rally

MOSOCW, January 22. /TASS/. The Simonovsky Court of Moscow fined the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) employee Lyubov Sobol for violation of rally organization procedure, the court told TASS Friday.

"The court has found Sobol guilty under Article 20.2.8 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offences (repeated organization or holding of a public event without prior application) and issued her with a fine of 250,000 rubles [$3,330]," the court said.

According to previous reports, police officers apprehended former Moscow City Duma candidate Lyubov Sobol over calls to participate in an unauthorized rally.

Russian blogger Alexey Navalny’s sympathizers disseminated online calls to hold unauthorized rallies in his support on January 23. Russian Prosecutor General’s Office told TASS that the law enforcement intends to take preventive measures and bring perpetrators to administrative responsibility, should grounds for that be present. Besides, the Russian communications watchdog was ordered to restrict access to illegal information. The Prosecutor’s Office disclosed that people calling for illegal activities were issued warnings.
