Russia’s envoy to EU: Sputnik V vaccine may be registered in Europe

Vladimir Chizhov asked not to limit the issue of vaccines’ registration to merely political reasons

MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. Russia’s Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov has not ruled out that the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V will be eventually registered in Europe.

"I think it is quite possible," the diplomat said in a televised interview with Rossiya’24 news channel on Wednesday. "I proceed from the fact that objectively, our vaccines have very good starting positions to compete fairly with other vaccines."

In addition, Chizhov asked not to limit the issue of vaccines’ registration to merely political reasons.

"There is also elementary competition among the producers," he explained. "However, of course, one cannot but regret the fact that the current pandemic had given a unique chance of teaming up in the fight against the common enemy, but this opportunity was missed.".
