Russian cabinet extends ‘Information society’ state program until 2024

The program is aimed at giving individuals and companies opportunities to use the benefits of information and communication technology through providing equal access to information sources

MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. Russia’s government has extended the state program ‘Information Society’ until 2024, according to a respective decree published on the official website of legal information on Monday.

Previously, the document implied the period of 2011-2020.

The program is aimed at giving individuals and companies opportunities to use the benefits of information and communication technology through providing equal access to information sources, development of digital content, introduction of innovative technology and dramatic improvement of the government regulation of information security.

The plan is to allocate 229 bln rubles ($3.5 bln) worth of federal budget funds in 2020, 274 bln rubles ($4.2 bln) in 2021, 330 bln rubles ($5 bln) in 2022, and 267 bln rubles ($4.1 bln) in 2024 for implementation of the measures outlined in the program.
