PM does not rule out single-use plastics ban in Russia down the track

The use of plastic can be very beneficial for manufacturers "but it does not mean that this is good for the nature," Medvedev stressed

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. The issue concerning the ban on disposable plastic tableware in Russia can be considered at a legislative level in Russia over time, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday.

"The European Union is going to introduce refusal of plastic tableware as a standard. We will also probably to need to consider this issue legislatively at a certain point of time," he said.

"This cannot be regulated otherwise," Medvedev said. The use of plastic can be very beneficial for manufacturers "but it does not mean that this is good for the nature," he added.
