MOSCOW, March 22. /TASS/. The Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights may organize a roundtable with the participation of Hollywood celebrities dealing with human rights issues, the council has said on its website.

According to the statement, the agreement was reached during Council Head Mikhail Fedotov’s meeting with US actor John Travolta on Thursday.

"During the meeting, issues of charity and the possibility of cooperation between foreign celebrity campaigners and Russian non-governmental organizations were raised, including [cooperation with] NGOs helping drug addicts and former inmates who are now undergoing re-socialization," the statement reads.

According to the Human Rights Council, "Travolta said at the meeting that the modern information space offers a distorted view of events that are taking place in Russia." In his words, many people in the United States understand it and treat media reports, often based on fake news, with a certain degree of skepticism, the council said.

"Mikhail Fedotov suggested holding a roundtable to create a dialogue between the Russian and US societies, with the participation of Council members and Hollywood stars who are dealing with human rights issues. Travolta supported the initiative," the statement reads.
