MOSCOW, March 6. / TASS /. The number of citizens who want to evade military service has declined by three-fold, comparing to 2012, the head of the Main Organizational Mobilization unit of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Yevgeny Burdinsky said on Wednesday.
"The number of citizens who want to evade military service, for example, in comparison with 2012, has decreased more than three-fold," Burdinsky said in an interview with the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper.
According to Burdinsky, in recent years, the fitness of future recruits has increased by 7%. Moreover, every fifth recruit has a higher education, and every third has secondary vocational education.
In December, Burdinsky reported that about 80% of the young people who were drafted into the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces in the autumn of 2018 were found fit for military service.
