Moscow court leaves in custody eight out of 24 Ukrainian sailors detained in Black Sea

On November 25, three Ukrainian naval ships breached the Russian state border in the Kerch Strait

MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. On Tuesday the Moscow City Court has recognized as valid the extension of the arrest term for four more sailors out of the 24 Ukrainian sailors charged with the breach on the Russian border in the Kerch Strait, the court’s press service told TASS.

"The court recognizes as legitimate the extension of the detention terms for Roman Mokryak, Yevgeny Semidotsky, Andrei Oprysko and Sergei Tsybizov," the source said.

On February 7, the Moscow City Court also left in custody four sailors: Bogdan Golovash, Sergei Popov, Vladimir Tereshchenko and Andrei Shevchenko.

The defendants will remain in the pretrial detention center until April 24.

On February 13, the Moscow City Court will study the appeals against the extension of the arrest terms for four more sailors.

On November 25, three Ukrainian naval ships breached the Russian state border in the Kerch Strait. The Ukrainian ships did not respond to the legitimate demands coming from the vessels of the Border Service of the Russian Security Service (FSB) and the Black Sea Fleet that had pursued them in order to stop them immediately and thwart their dangerous maneuvers. Because of their blatant refusal to submit to the order, gunfire had to be used to stop the intruding Ukrainian ships.The ships were detained and taken to Kerch. A criminal case was launched into the breach of the Russian state border.
