MOSCOW, December 28. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin is the most mentioned person on Russian social network VKontakte in 2018, according to a statement from the network’s staff on Friday.

The team of VKontakte employees conducted a research into mostly discussed and mentioned persons in public statements and comments made on the social network between January and December 2018. President Putin is the first in the rating list with 9 million mentions. The second place went to Russia’s UFC Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (3.9 million mentions).

The third and fourth places went to footballers Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo (with 2.8 million and 2.1 million mentions respectively). The places between five and eight are occupied by musicians Basta (2 million mentions), Egor Kreed (1.99 million mentions), Allj (1.95 million mentions) and Miyagi (1.8 million mentions).

The Top-10 of the most mentioned persons, according to VKontakte statistics, are also US President Donald Trump (1.5 million mentions) and Director of the Lenin State Farm Pavel Grudinin, who was a candidate from the Communist Party of Russia at the 2018 presidential election.

The most mentioned event among VKontakte subscribers in 2018 was the FIFA World Cup in Russia 92.8 million mentions), the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang (1.8 million mentions) and the Russian pension reform (1.2 million mentions).
