Russian citizens should feel results of national projects in 2019-President Putin

The Russian leader thanked the MPs for the support and thoughtful work on the key decisions within 2018, including initiatives under the May decree

MOSCOW, December 25. / TASS /. The implementation of national projects in pursuance of the May decree should already give positive results in 2019, said Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the meeting with the leadership of the Federation Council and the State Duma on Tuesday.

The President thanked the parliamentarians for the support and thoughtful work on the key decisions in the current year, including initiatives under the May decree, the funding for which has been already incorporated into the federal budget. "Now it is extremely important to achieve success in the implementation of each national project, to significantly and confidently move forward in achieving all the goals set, so that our citizens feel the real, positive results and practical results of our joint work in the coming year," Putin said. With that, the President urged parliamentarians to "pay great attention to the problems that people have on location, to constantly be in touch with their voters,"

Putin recalled that the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and of both chambers of the Federal Assembly was recently celebrated. According to him, for this quarter of a century great experience was accumulated, more than 8000 laws were passed. "It is clear that the number of legislative acts is not the main indicator, their quality and consistency, compliance with the expectations and urgent needs of people, and, of course, the fundamental tasks of the development of the country are more important," the President said. According to Putin, the outgoing year confirmed that it is these priorities in the understanding of national interests that underlie the work of Russian parliamentarians and serve as a guideline for all parliamentary parties, despite the difference in views, and for regional legislative assemblies.

National projects in 12 areas (demographics, culture, health care, education, housing and urban environment, ecology, roads, labor productivity and employment support, science, digital economy, small and medium business, international cooperation and export) were developed in response to the new May presidential decree on the national goals and strategic objectives of the Russian Federation until 2024.
