SIMFEROPOL, December 11. /TASS/. Crimea has welcomed more than 6.6 million tourists since the beginning of the year, which is 28% more than the same period last year, Crimean Minister for Recreation and Tourism Vadim Volchenko said at a session of the peninsula’s Ministerial Council on Tuesday.
Crimea was earlier reported to have set a tourist flow record for the entire post-Soviet period this year.
"From early 2018 to December 7, Crimea was the place where 6,617,000 people spent their holidays, which is 28% greater than in the same period last year," Volchenko said.
He noted that 47% of tourists crossed the Crimean Bridge, and about 40% reached the peninsula by plane. More than 1 million tourists came to Crimea from Ukraine for recreation.
