Russia’s National Guard chief hits opposition figure Navalny with $15,000 lawsuit

The director of the Russia’s National Guard, Viktor Zolotov, has filed a one-million-ruble lawsuit against blogger Alexey Navalny demanding the protection of honor, dignity and reputation

MOSCOW, December 11. /TASS/. The director of the Russia’s National Guard (Rosgvardiya), Viktor Zolotov, has filed a one-million-ruble lawsuit against blogger Alexey Navalny demanding the protection of honor, dignity and reputation, Zolotov’s lawyer Shota Gorgadze told TASS, adding that if his client won the case, he would transfer the money to an orphanage.

"Today we filed a law suit for the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation against Alexey Navalny at Moscow’s Lyublinsky court," he said.

Gorgadze explained that Zolotov wants Navalny’s statements concerning his client declared as slanderous and having nothing to do with the reality.

"In particular, this concerns private property information and claims that Rosgvardia chiefs are involved in corrupt food procurement schemes," Gorgadze said.
