Crimea to see record-high tourist volume in 2018

The number of tourists visiting Crimea will top 6.5 million people

MOSCOW, December 6. /TASS/. The number of tourists who visited Crimea in 2018 will hit a record high of 6.5 million people since the break-up of the Soviet Union, Advisor to the Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism), Andrei Monakov, told TASS.

"Crimea saw a huge rise over the year, and we will see a record high for the entire post-Soviet era. We are confident that the number of tourists visiting Crimea will top 6.5 million people," he predicted, adding that last year, the Black Sea peninsula had welcomed 5.4 million tourists.

Monakov also said that data on other regions of the country for 2018 would be available later.
