Nearly 230 Russians return to Minsk after Ukraine’s entry ban

The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service prohibited Russian men, aged 16-60, from entering the country

MINSK, December 3. /TASS/. Ukraine’s authorities have banned entry for 229 Russians, who had to return to Belarus either by plane or by car, Spokesman for the Belarusian State Border Committee Anton Bychkovsky told TASS.

"Some 189 Russian citizens had to return by plane, and another 39 by car," Bychkovsky said, noting that after Kiev slapped entry ban on Russian men aged 16-60 the number of denied visits has not skyrocketed.

Last week, some 30-50 Russians were not allowed to enter Ukraine per day, and this weekend nearly 20-30 Russians had to return home, he noted.

Following the Kerch Strait incident on November 25, when three Ukrainian vessels were detained and 24 sailors were arrested for violating the Russian border, Kiev announced imposing martial law in ten regions for 30 days.

The Ukrainian State Border Guard Service prohibited Russian men, aged 16-60, from entering the country, its head Pyotr Tsigikal said on Friday. According to the service, the flow of Russians coming to Ukraine has halved. Earlier, up to 3,000 Russians traveled to Ukraine every day.
