Moscow crime rate lowers significantly, says mayor

MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. The Moscow crime rate has gone down several times in the last eight years, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated on Monday. He added that in particular, the number of burglaries, robberies and car thefts in the city has decreased by a factor of four.

"In the last 7-8 years, there have been revolutionary changes in Moscow crime control. Not many people know this: such severe crimes as burglaries, robberies, car theft have reduced by a factor of three-four," Sobyanin said.

He noted that the city had become several times safer, and thanked the law enforcement agencies for their hard work.
