MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Sky watchers in Moscow will be able to enjoy a spectacular view of bright and long-lasting fireballs produced by the Taurid meteor shower peaking on Sunday night, with up to 15 meteors seen per hour, the Moscow Planetarium said on Friday.

"Around midnight, sky watchers will enjoy a celestial show, with the Northern Taurid meteor show lighting up the night sky. The meteor show will reach its peak on November 11. The radiant of the shower, or the point the shooting stars appear to originate from, is in the constellation Taurus the Bull. The Taurids are associated with Comet Encke, with meteors being tiny fragments of the comet trail of crumbs that burn up in Earth’s atmosphere. Astronomers say from seven to 15 meteors will be visible when the Taurids reach their peak," the Planetarium said.

All you need to enjoy the Taurids is clear sky and time. It’s better to travel away from the city. The Moon will be no hindrance as it will go down at about 19:00 Moscow time after pairing up with Saturn. The two will be observed with the naked eye some 20 degrees above the southwestern horizon an hour after the sunset.
