Most Moldovans committed to friendship with Russia, president says

CHISINAU, October 31. /TASS/. The vast majority of Moldovan people support maintaining the tradition of friendly relations with Russia, the country’s President Igor Dodon, who is currently on an official visit to Moscow, wrote on Facebook following his Wednesday meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

"I assured the Russian president that the vast majority of Moldovan citizens support maintaining long friendly relations with Russia and strengthening strategic cooperation between Moldova and Russia," Dodon said.

A source in the Moldovan presidential administration told TASS that Dodon had presented Putin with a unique prayer book published in 1819 under Metropolitan of Moldavia Gavril Banulescu-Bodoni. "The gift symbolizes the strength of the Orthodox faith and the spiritual unity between the people of our countries," the source said.
