Five Russian movies make it to European Film Awards long list

Over 3,500 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the categories European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter

MADRID, August 21. /TASS/. The European Film Academy has published a longlist for the 31st European Film Awards, which includes 49 movies form 35 countries, the academy said in a statement.

"It is with great pleasure that the European Film Academy and EFA Productions announce the titles of the 49 films on this year’s EFA Feature Film Selection, the list of feature-length fiction films recommended for a nomination for the European Film Awards 2018! With 35 European countries represented, the list once again illustrates the great diversity in European cinema," the statement reads.

Five Russian movies have made it to the list, including Kirill Serebrennikov’s Leto (or Summer), Alexei Fedorchenko’s Voina Anny (or Anna’s War), Boris Khlebnikov’s Aritmiya (or Arrhythmia), Sergei Dvortsevoy’s Ayka and Alexei German Jr’s Dovlatov.

"In the coming weeks, over 3,500 members of the European Film Academy will vote for the nominations in the categories European Film, Director, Actor, Actress and Screenwriter," the European Film Academy said, adding that "the nominations will then be announced on November 10 at the Seville European Film Festival in Spain."

"The 31st European Film Awards with the presentation of the winners will take place on December 15 in Seville," the statement says.

The European Film Awards were established in 1988 as a European counterpart of the Oscar Awards and a major European cinema prize.
