Before getting into the limousine, Russian President signed at the wedding car of the newlyweds and shouted "gorko," by a Russian wedding tradition

TASS, August 18. The motorcade of Russian President Vladimir Putin has left the village of Gamlitz in Austria where the wedding ceremony of Austria’s Foreign Minister Karin Kneissl and businessman Wolfgang Malinger was held on Saturday.

The departure was broadcast live on the Internet TV channel OE24.TV.

Before getting into the limousine, Putin signed at the wedding car of the newlyweds and shouted "gorko," by a Russian wedding tradition. The word "gorko" literally means "bitter." By shouting "gorko" at a Russian wedding guests are saying that the drinks are bitter and the couple needs to start kissing to sweeten the drinks.

Although the Russian leader spent only about an hour at the wedding, he found time for a short dance with the bride, Austrian newspaper Heute reported.

Putin is now on the way to negotiations with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Before the talks the two leaders are expected to make a joint statement for press outlining the main topics of the upcoming meeting.
