Spanish authorities offer condolences over helicopter crash in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Region

MADRID, August 6. /TASS/. The Spanish government has offered condolences over the Mi-8 helicopter crash in the Krasnoyarsk Region, which killed 18 people, Spain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation said in a statement on Monday.

"Spain was deeply saddened to learn about the helicopter crash," the ministry said in the statement. "The Spanish government offers condolences to the relatives of the deceased and expresses solidarity with the Russian people and authorities," the ministry added.

On August 4, a Mi-8 helicopter owned by the UTair airline crashed in the northwest of the Krasnoyarsk region, East Siberia, shortly after takeoff. The regional branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said the accident occurred 180 kilometers north of the town of Igarka. According to preliminary reports, the main rotor blade collided with the load of another copter that had taken off earlier. Three crew members and all 15 passengers, who were employees of RN-Vankor and its contracting companies, died in the crash.
